Outlast whistleblower dlc review3/21/2023 ![]() ![]() Enemies are more distinguishable than just some big, crazy dude who has an affinity for relentlessly chasing you. Levels aren’t the only thing that are more varied, either. This was a nice change from always being shrouded in pitch darkness. One section in particular has you running blindly through a thick fog, while the sound of a stranger’s footsteps keeps you on your toes the whole time. Levels are a little more varied, and the layout is more interesting to explore. Trial and error is the only way to get around these nuisances, and it feels unnecessary and frustrating.Įven though its previous short-coming holds it back, Whistleblower actually manages to be somewhat more enjoyable this time around - there’s just a little more diversity than its base counterpart. ![]() Problems with directions plague some areas of the map, and it’s not apparent where to go when you have a pursuer chasing you. Because of this, it also doesn’t venture away from the main issue that was originally holding it back. Walk around, search for batteries, conserve battery life, evade enemies it’s all straightforward, and doesn’t venture outside of its comfort zone. If you’re like me, however, get ready to chuckle at some really over the top set-pieces… does that make me weird?Įvery aspect of the gameplay is identical to the original, and upon picking up your camera it’s immediately obvious what to do. If you’re squeamish, then have a bucket on hand. It’s obvious that one of the intended goals was to top the base game in the “messed-up department”, and in that regard, I have to hand it to the team for their commitment. This is merely a prelude to the extremely nightmarish events that are in store for you on your journey to salvation. A scientist slaps his face whilst suckling ever-so erotically at his ear. The protagonist is strapped down to a chair, and is the subject of whatever godforsaken experiments occur at Mount Massive Asylum. Right from the get-go, Whistleblower reminds you that you are indeed back in the demented, grotesque world of Outlast. Looks like Agent 47 couldn’t outlast this. The game gets really intense because you can hear Flo Rida getting closer by how loud he raps. That shit is down-right spooky! Alright, so that’s the review, thanks for reading…Īre you still reading? Okay, enough with the cheesy jokes. Basically, the whole game has you trying to escape from the asylum, while famous hip hop artist Flo Rida chases you down, trying to make you blow his whistle– if you know what I mean. I’m sure you connoisseurs of gore are eager to find out what this new DLC has in store for you. I still can’t figure out if he’s using a chopped finger to make a “shh” sound, or if he’s just straight up kissing it.Īfter a long time of waiting and speculation, the good people over at Red Barrels finally released some long anticipated DLC to their critically acclaimed horror game Outlast. Ladies and gentlemen, Whistleblower has arrived. ![]()
